Episode 10
aka. Baby baby baby oh!

Previously on Project Runway, the designers took a trip over to Babies R Us where Heidi Klum described her new collection of baby clothes. For this challenge, Heidi asked the designers to create a fashionable look for babies using fabric from her line. The winning boy and girl looks would be selected to be added to Heidi's collection. In a surprise twist, the judges also asked the designers to create a cohesive look for the baby's mommas, but the judges stressed that the judges were primarily interested in the babies outfits. Let's take a look at the designs:

Dmitry created a cute hooded red hooded jumper for a baby boy. An added feature was that the hood unzipped and could be turned into a little cape. Michael Kors worried that the look may be too costumey, but the women assured Michael that kids love hoods/capes.  The hood kind of reminded me of one of those dinosaurs with the lumps on their head (like the Oviraptor). And Dmitry's mom's had one of the best looks down the runway.

Fabio really took to this challenge as he said that he used to be a Nanny. Fabio decided to use some retro inspiration and created a modern take on nautical with his one piece outfit, plus he gave his mom a cute outfit to boot. If it were up to me, there would have been 2 boy look winner's as I thought Fabio's was also deserving of a win.

Sonjia created a mini-man look for her baby boy that was inspired by clothes that her boyfriend would wear. There was no denying the fabulousness and coolness of Sonjia's mini-suit made of sweatshirt material that looked both polished and comfy. Sonjia's mom looked equally as cool in a jersey maxi dress and jacket. This look is so good, it makes me want to buy it (and I don't even have kids)!

The baby girl looks were not nearly as strong. Christopher managed to get the most difficult client who would not be pleased with anything, even if she designed the whole thing herself (what mom says "my baby only wears 3/4 sleeves"!? Please!). The mom hated the floral looks that Christopher created for both mom and daughter, but the judges thought they looked adorable- like they were going to Easter brunch. Luckily, it's the judges opinions that count and Christopher was awarded the win for the girls.

Melissa was a train wreck this week. Melissa dressed her baby in a cotton shift dress that rode up to expose the baby's diaper as she attempted to walk. The mom's outfit looked boring and slopping in a jersey tank top, draped vest and shorts. The only saving grace was that the judges loved Melissa's baby vest which featured a whimsical monster face on the back. In my opinion, the vest was not enough and I felt that Melissa should have left, but the judges did not agree.

Elena created a fabulous (yet difficult to wash) jacket for her baby girl with a colorful shirt and pants while her mother looked clean and polished. The judges said that they didn't like the disconnectedness between mother and baby's looks and they felt that the baby's outfit looked like baby had shopped at a sidewalk sale. I thought Elena's outfits were great. The judges kicked Elena out this week and I don't know why.

AKA. The L'oreal Paris challenge

This week on Project Runway the final five designers participated in the L'oreal make up challenge  and were asked to create an avaunt-guarde look inspired by the make up line's newest collection "Electric Fantasie" based on four "muses/color themes": Enchanting Queen, Seductive Temptress, Wise Mystic and Artsy Muse. The designers were randomly assigned to a muse and were taken to Oheka Castle to sketch their looks. Those that remained in after this challenge would be moving on towards fashion week.

Muse: Wise Mystic
I felt like Dmitry had a hard time stepping out of the box this week as he created a smart looking suit that seemed too ready-to-wear to be avaunt-guarde. However, the suit was impeccably made which was enough to impress the judges and give Dmitry the win this week.

Muse: The Enchanted Queen
I think Fabio probably went the most avaunt-guard this week by creating a jacket that could be flipped around to create 2 different silhouettes. I think the only thing holding him back from the top spot was his aesthetics, taste and that the judges weren't sure if an enchanted queen would allow her knickers to be seen.
Fabio
Muse: Artsy Muse
I really liked Melissa's look this week, although it wasn't super avaunt-guard either. I thought that the black leather worked well with her pops of color- thus showing that Melissa does her best when she pulls out some color.

Muse: Enchanted Queen
Since there were only 4 muses and 5 designers, Christopher got to select his own muse and went with the Enchanted Queen. I think that Christopher had a great idea for an evil enchanted queen on paper. Unfortunately, Christopher fell victim to having too many ideas and not knowing when to take a step back. His idea for an exaggerated hip was neat, however he failed to notice how small it made her bust line.

Muse:Seductive Temptress
This just wasn't Sonjia's day. After shopping at Mood, Sonjia discovered that she'd left her key fabric (some gold lame') at the store. But Sonjia dubbed herself the "make it work queen" and was determined to whip something up. Unfortunately that something turned out to look more like a Poison Ivy costume than an avaunt-guarde look, and poor Sonjia was sent home.
Sonjia
I really would have been interested to see what Sonjia would have done had she had her gold lame' fabric as I really would have liked to see her in the final four. I also think that Fabio was more deserving of the win this week because he actually went more avaunt-guard than the others. Who do you think should have been top/bottom and in the final four? Let me know in the comments below.
