A.k.a. Retail Milly
Previously on Project Runway the final four designers were asked to create a ready-to-wear look for Michelle Smith's NYC design label, Milly. The designs had to utilize fabric from Milly's design closet; be edgy, feminine and "urban tribal", and retail for approx. $400. The winning look would be sold to Milly clients with the money going to the charity,
Save the Garmet Center. The guest judges this week were Michelle Smith, Kristin Chenoweth and Nick Cannon. Let's take a look at the designs:
Top
Seth Aaron opted to create a black and white graphic print with a pop of color. The judges were split on whether they liked the pop of pink in the ruffle and Alyssa asked "did I see nipple?", but the judges agreed that this was the clear winner this week.

Elena was a close second this week as she stuck to her structured guns and the judges loved her white sheath dress with a pop of neon underneath (it's harder to see in pictures). The only negative remark was that all of the judges (except Nick Cannon) were not fans of the silver zipper in the front. Elena made it to the final episode this season!

Korto selected two tribal print fabrics and attempted to marry them together in a fairly simple silhouette that the judges loved from the back, but though was too simple in the front.

Christopher went for a black and white look, but struggled in the workroom to figure out how to combine his leather dress with the sarong. While the judges liked the idea that Christopher was going for, they poo-pooed his construction and felt that the bodice was too puffy.

Although it seemed like Christopher was clearly on his way out of the door, the judges decided to have the bottom two designers face off in an additional challenge to determine who would be going on to the finals. The judges asked the designers to pick out three outfits from a previous challenge and re-work them on the runway into another outfit in one hour. Christopher's navy feathered ball gown was amongst his outfits to remix and he created a one-shouldered bodice with a belted mini-skirt. Korto selected her menswear look amongst her remixed pieces and created a drapey peplum top and a pencil skirt. The judges felt that Korto had the clearer design voice and Christopher was out this week.
So the designers competing in the finale at the UN in New York City are Seth Aaron, Elena and Korto and I'm pretty happy about that. I think the judges may be won over by an Elena collection with Seth Aaron in 2nd and Korto in 3rd.
