Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Monday, November 29, 2010
Over Thanksgiving break I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and I thought it was the best one yet except for the...

*SPOILER ALERT*

...CGI-Harry Potter/Hermione-monster sex scene. I don't consider myself a prude, but these characters are supposed to be 16 years old and we've been watching these characters since they were 11 years old. We don't want to see Hermione's side-boob!

Anyway, watching this film reminded me that I never shared my photos from the "Harry Potter Party" The Boy's family and I threw to celebrate the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince back in July 2009.

If this hasn't gotten you in the Harry Potter spirit, check out the trailer below. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is playing at a theater near you right now. Watch it and leave me some comments below.

Sunday, November 28, 2010

This Thanksgiving weekend the Boy and I rented Kirby's Epic Yarn from our local video store and, let me tell you kids, I am in love! This game combines my love for crafting, gaming, and cute things in one compact disk. If you have a Wii and have not tried this game, GET IT NOW!!! And if you've got me on your x-mas list this year, consider this post a BIG hint ;)

What I'm Listening To: Fenech-Soler 'Lies'

This week I've been listening to Fenech-Soler 'Lies' on my Fashion.Music.Style magazine sampler. Fashion.Music.Style magazine is a British publication that reviews and promotes new (unsigned) and up-and-coming talent in fashion and music and is sold worldwide. I picked up my copy randomly on a recent trip to Borders and I love it! So, give Fenech-Soler a listen, and check out the magazine when you get a chance.

What's Making Me Laugh: David Sedaris

David Sedaris will be passing through my hometown this week on his latest book tour to promote Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk. Most of you know that I'm a huge fan of his work (and if you need a reminder, click here), so of course I am super pumped! So, in honor of David Sedaris's visit to Kansas, check out this clip from the David Letterman show. It's hilarious!

Rocky Votolato- "White Daisy Passing"

Hi all!

On Monday I got a voice mail from an unknown number. When I listened to it, I learned that I'd won 2 free tickets to see Rocky Votolato in concert on Wednesday in my old college town. I'd completely forgotten that I'd entered the contest to win free tickets online through Mass Street Music, so that made winning that much more exciting and surprising!

As you may have read, I'd already planned on visiting my college town on Thursday to check out a concert by The Heavy. So now I'm going to see two shows during my Veteran's Day holiday!Hurray!

I also remembered to thank a U.S. Veteran today! Happy Veteran's Day, everyone!

A Rose for A Rose

Monday, November 8, 2010
My grandma Rose turned 91 way back in September. She'd asked for some new washcloths for her birthday, so I decided to knit some.

I knit the first washcloth using lil knit of this & that's Rose Dishcloth pattern and some white speckled Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn that I had on hand. If you look closely, you can kind of make out the rose pattern on the dishcloth. I wonder if the rose would have been more visible if I'd used a solid colored yarn :/

For the second washcloth, I used a new twist on dishcloth's Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth pattern and the same yarn. This was a very simple pattern to knit and only took me one afternoon to complete.

My grandma was really pleased with her gifts, although now she feels like they're too nice to use as wash cloths. So instead my grandma is keeping them around to use like coaster/doilies. What do you think?

What I'm Listening To: The Heavy "How You Like Me Now?"

Saturday, November 6, 2010

I'm super excited! The Heavy will be visiting my former college town this week on my day off from work and I've already got my tickets to the show! I've been in love with this band since I first heard them on that sock monkey commercial and I've been listening to them ever since. Have a listen and I hope you'll love them too.
