To celebrate the film I decided to make myself my very own SATC inspired bag like the one seen below.
Carrie's bag is a pink, Silvia Drapey Hobo by Christian Louboutin that retails for $1,795 (available in grey here). However, my bag just cost me 2 yards of denim fabric (in raspberry and purple), matching thread, and a denim sewing needle (maybe $17.95 for 2.5 bags).
For my bags, I used the Reversible Bag pattern by verypurpleperson as seen on her blog and on BurdaStyle. The pattern and tutorials were very easy to follow. The only change that I made was that I left a larger hole at the top of the bag for turning, rather than attempt to turn my bags through the handles due to the stiffness of my denim.
I highly recommend the pattern and tutorial, and would suggest that beginning sewers try the pattern with a light to medium weight cotton fabric first.
