Project Runway Season 10: Before the Runway

Monday, July 23, 2012
Hello everyone. I must confess that I was unable to watch the Project Runway Season 10 premiere when it first aired on Lifetime on July 19, 2012 because I don't have cable. But, I was able to watch all of the Casting Session videos on mylifetime.com. So, for the first time in Oh Sarah O! history,  I'm going to tell you who my top 3 and bottom 3 designer picks are before I've even watched a single episode.

Top
  1. Ven Budhu- Ven showed off some amazing and classy silk pieces during his audition, which truly impressed the judges (Seth Aaron, Mondo amongst them) and looked very promising. I look forward to seeing his work on the show.
  2. Elena Slivnyak- Elena presented a great, futuristic collection and had a great personality. I look forward to seeing more of her on the show.

  3.  Buffi Jashanmal- Buffi presented an eclectic mix of prints and patterns and declared that she wanted to be famous for her "circle shirt". We all know how much a like a good print, and I was a huge fan of her style and accent.
Bottom
  1. Alicia HardestyAlicia presented a collection called "Original Tomboy." While I thought Alicia had a great original concept for a collection, the judges pointed out that there was some gaping in her dress, which needed some bust darts. I'm worried that if Alicia's audition outfits have problems, the rest of her work may have problems too.

  2.  Andrea Katz- Andrea brought an array of clothes from her past collections: some with hoop skirts, some with wacky prints, some with Victorian influences and some with poetry on the sleeves. I thought Andrea's aesthetic appeared outdated and a bit "Holly Hobby" for Project Runway and I'm not sure she'll last long in the competition.

  3.  Kooan Konsuke- And speaking of wacky, Kooan Konsuke appears to be the wackiest of the wacky. He presented a collection that showed a collection with bold, bright patterns (some from costume fabric) with heavy Kimono inspired elements. I wasn't a huge fan of Kooan's fabric choices, nor did I feel like his clothes were very flattering. I felt like Kooan was selected mainly for his kooky look and personality rather than his design sense. We'll see...
Did you watch the Project Runway Season 10 Casting Sessions? Who do you think made the best and worst impressions? Do you agree or disagree with my choices? Let me know in the comments below.
